Launch Party for Glaucoma 360

Over 40 guests including Glaucoma Research Foundation board members and Ophthalmology Times staff gathered in San Francisco recently at the Russian Hill residence of board member Adrienne Graves, PhD to celebrate the launch of “Glaucoma 360.”

Adrienne Graves is the co-founder of Glaucoma 360 with Andrew G. Iwach, MD, Chair of the Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF) Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco.

Glaucoma 360, a 3-day series of events offering a full-compass view of glaucoma, will be presented by the Glaucoma Research Foundation at The Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco on February 2-4, 2012. The Catalyst For A Cure Annual Benefit on February 2 will be followed by the New Horizons Forum on February 3 (a meeting for new ideas in glaucoma diagnostics and treatment), and a continuing medical education (CME) course for physicians on February 4.

Dr. Iwach informed the crowd about the many exciting plans for Glaucoma 360, and recognized Nobuko Saito Cleary and Gary Cleary, PharmD, PhD as co-chairs for the benefit gala that will kick-off the event activities. GRF President Thomas M. Brunner joined Ophthalmology Times Publisher Leo Avila, Editor-in Chief Mark Dlugoss, and National Representative Rebecca Novack to speak about the new partnership.

Representing the Russian Hill neighborhood were GRF donors and Catalyst Circle members Lawrence Lipkind, DDs, Frank Stein and Paul S. May. Among the many luminaries in attendance were Vicky Gunvalsen from Santen, Inc., Vernon G. Wong, MD and Doug Lee from AcuMEMs, Leo Otero of Alcon, Inc., and Sean Ianchulev, MD from Transcend Medical.

A. Sydney Williams, MD, Charles Wilmoth, and Prevent Blindness Northern California’s Executive Director Wing-See Leung were in attendance along with GRF Board members J. Bronwyn Bateman, MD, Fred Brinkmann with his wife Cynthia, Timothy Dwyer, Michael L. Penn, Sr. with Beatrice Meadows, Deirdre Porter, Robert Stamper, MD with his wife Naomi, and Bill Stewart.
