As Chair of the steering committee for the event, Andrea Epstein was instrumental in the development of the inaugural Glaucoma Research Foundation Patient Summit in 2019, held in San Francisco at the Park Central Hotel.

"Understanding Glaucoma" is a talk for glaucoma patients presented by Shan Lin, MD (Glaucoma Center of San Francisco). Dr. Lin presents the essential information any patient or caregiver should know to understand the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.

"Living with Glaucoma - What Every Glaucoma Patient Should Know" is a talk for glaucoma patients presented by Constance Okeke, MD, MSCE (Virginia Eye Consultants) at the second annual Glaucoma Patient Summit. Dr. Okeke discusses effective strategies to work with your doctor, good questions to ask your doctor, action steps for those with vision loss, beneficial lifestyle changes, and the need for emotional and psychological support.
"Promising Research on the Horizon - The Path to a Cure" is a stimulating and informative talk about current research to find a cure for glaucoma. Speaker: Jeffrey L. Goldberg, MD, PhD (Byers Eye Institute, Stanford University).
"How to Be Your Own Advocate" is a session with information and tips for glaucoma patients to manage eye health and learn how to be your own glaucoma care advocate. Moderated by Ruth Williams, MD (Wheaton Eye Clinic), panelists include glaucoma experts Andrew Iwach, MD (Glaucoma Center of San Francisco) and Michael L. Halkias, OD (Naper Grove Vision Care), with glaucoma patient Linda Richardson.
