Glaucoma Research Foundation’s Annual Gala kicked off the 8th Annual Glaucoma 360 on January 31st in San Francisco.

This fundraising event, co-chaired by Nancy and Patrick Forster, honors visionary leaders and volunteers committed to making a difference in the lives of people with glaucoma. Thanks to matching funds and generous support from Gala attendees, more than $660,000 was raised to support Glaucoma Research Foundation’s research and education programs.

On the following day, the New Horizons Forum was held with more than 50 companies and institutions participating in this full day of presentations and panel discussions dedicated to highlighting innovations in glaucoma. Special sessions featured advances in vision restoration, telemedicine, and glaucoma genetics.

The third and final day of Glaucoma 360 focused on continuing education for practicing ophthalmologists and optometrists.

GRF President and CEO, Thomas Brunner, presented the 2019 Catalyst Award to Mona and Edward Zander.

George Cioffi, MD, presented the 2019 Shaffer Prize for Innovative Glaucoma Research to Adriana di Polo, PhD, from the University of Montreal.

GRF Board Chair, Andrew Iwach, MD, with New Horizons Forum keynote speaker Janey Wiggs, MD, PhD, and GRF Board member Adrienne Graves, PhD (Drs. Graves and Iwach co-founded Glaucoma 360 in 2012).

Longtime GRF Board member, Robert Stamper, MD, received the 2019 Visionary Award.

Next year’s Glaucoma 360 events will be held from February 6 to 8, 2020, at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco.
