In ceremonies on January 27 at San Francisco’s Palace Hotel, Glaucoma Research Foundation President and CEO Thomas M. Brunner presented The President’s Award to Andi Mallinckrodt for her exemplary volunteer work on behalf of the Foundation.
The President’s Award recognizes individuals who make an extraordinary contribution of time and talent. Andi Mallinckrodt embodies these qualities as an outstanding volunteer, whose decorative contributions to GRF events create an attractive and festive environment.
“For her many hours of work, incredible talent, and loyal support, Andi Mallinckrodt is well deserving of year’s President’s award,” Brunner said. As Mallinchrodt accepted the award, Brunner thanked her for the beautiful, colorful floral design decorating the ballroom. “We all appreciate the time and effort you have donated to design and produce the décor for our Annual Gala Benefit each year since the first benefit three years ago,” he said. “And each year is more beautiful than ever!”
Andi began donating her decorative services at GRF’s first Benefit through her friendship with Board member Linda Linck. At the same time, she visited her eye doctor for a routine eye examination and learned that she was in fact a glaucoma suspect. Andi talked with her family and learned that close family members all had glaucoma, giving her immediate appreciation of glaucoma’s inherited aspects. She became even more motivated to help spread the word about glaucoma.
As the co-founder of Pomegranate, an Event Planning and Floral Décor company, Andi and her business partner Kris Forbes have presented at the DeYoung Museum’s benefit “Bouquets to Art” as well as “Holidays on a High Note” at the Menlo Circus Club. Prior to founding Pomegranate, Andi was the co-founder and Chief Petal Pusher of Flowers on Monday.com, an Internet-based floral design business. A wife and mother of two young girls, Andi is an active community volunteer. She is a member of The Junior League of Palo Alto Mid Peninsula, The Foothill Auxiliary to the Family Service Agency and the San Francisco Ballet.
