Take a Family Glaucoma Snapshot and Save Your Sight
EyeCare America, a public service foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, is encouraging Americans to “take a family glaucoma snapshot” this summer to raise awareness about preserving vision.
The campaign reminds Americans that “Summer is a perfect time to take family snapshots” and encourages everyone to “get a snapshot of your family history of glaucoma”:
- ASK: “Does anyone in our family have glaucoma?”
- CALL: 1-800-391-EYES to see if you qualify for a free exam.
- TELL: Your family if you have glaucoma.
Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in African- Americans. If a family member has glaucoma, you may be at increased risk for getting the eye disease and losing your sight.
