Scientists Present Findings at Major Vision Research Meeting
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, MAY 2007 — The Glaucoma Research Foundation was a major sponsor of research reported at the recent ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology) meeting. The Catalyst For a Cure scientists had 17 presentations, and this year’s Pilot Project scientists had 3 presentations.
Catalyst For a Cure is a unique research team with diverse experience in genetics, nerve regeneration, and neurodevelopment working collaboratively to find exactly what causes glaucoma and seeking improved therapies for treating glaucoma. The Catalyst For A Cure principal investigators are: David Calkins, PhD at Vanderbilt University, Philip Horner, PhD at University of Washington, Nicholas Marsh-Armstrong, PhD at Johns Hopkins University, and Monica Vetter, PhD at the University of Utah.
2007 Pilot Project grand recipients presenting at ARVO were Donald J. Brown, PhD from the University of California at Irvine, Sharon A. Haymes, PhD at Dalhousie University in Canada, and Brian A. Link, PhD at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
