GRF Hosts Prominent Physicians in Atlanta
The Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF) hosted a full house of prominent physicians from across the country at the annual GRF Reception at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in Atlanta. The Reception on Saturday, November 8th honored ophthalmologists who place a high value on patient education and provide GRF educational materials to support their patients.
GRF Council Chairman Kuldev Singh, MD (Director of the Glaucoma Service at Stanford University) was on hand to welcome H. Dunbar Hoskins, Jr., MD, Executive Director of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and GRF Councilors John S. Cohen, MD, Steve Litinsky, MD, Carl Migliazzo, MD, and Michael Sakamoto, MD. The GRF Council currently consists of 20 glaucoma specialists around the country, and continues to grow as more Associate Councilors come on board.
Physician members of the GRF Board Committee on Patient Education James Brandt, MD, Andrew Iwach, MD, and Robert Stamper, MD shared stories with GRF Associate Councilors Rohit Krishna, MD of Overland Park, KS, Sonja Schluter, MD from Sonoma, CA, and Jeffrey Zink, MD from the Cincinnati Eye Institute, among others.
International Shaffer Fellows in attendance included Rodolfo A. Perez Grossman, MD and Xuyang Liu, MD. GRF’s friends from the ophthalmic device industry enjoyed the opportunity to meet and mingle one-on-one with prominent glaucoma specialists. GRF President and CEO Thomas M. Brunner welcomed guests, along with Allen B. Poirson, PhD, GRF’s Director of Scientific Programs and Licensing, and Andrew Jackson, Director of Communications and Patient Education.
More than 12,000 physicians and health professionals attended the AAO meeting in Atlanta where GRF hosted its annual reception. Throughout the 4-day meeting, GRF staff met with ophthalmologists visiting the Glaucoma Research Foundation exhibit booth for information about the Foundation’s patient education offerings.
