American Glaucoma Society Annual Meeting

Thomas M. Brunner, GRF’s President and CEO, and Allen B. Poirson, PhD, Director of Scientific Programs and Licensing, attended the American Glaucoma Society meeting in San Diego. Dr. Poirson reports that neuroprotection, neuroregeneration and utilizing molecular and cellular techniques to study and stratify glaucoma are of growing interest to clinical practitioners — indicating that scientific advances on these fronts are accelerating and the Glaucoma Research Foundation can continue to help translate these discoveries into clinical practice.

Ophthalmologists gain clinical insights at Glaucoma Symposium

300 ophthalmologists gathered for a symposium to learn the latest in diagnosing and treating glaucoma. The 13th annual symposium updated eye specialists on glaucoma medications, surgical and laser techniques, and glaucoma management algorithms.

“Where is the cure?” That was the topic for the second annual Daniel Scott Weston Glaucoma Research Lecture, presented by Glaucoma Research Foundation’s Silicon Valley chapter. Nearly 100 movers and shakers from Silicon Valley and the Bay Area attended the event, hosted by Lydia and John Vidovich in their Los Altos Hills home to hear the featured Weston lecturer, Allen B.
