Artists donate works to auction that benefits Glaucoma Research Foundation

“Visions” annual art auction to benefit glaucoma research held in Delray Beach, Florida
Dr. Daniel Jewelewicz’s profession is ophthalmology but his passion is painting. So, last year when he wanted to raise money for glaucoma research, he decided to combine the two.
The result was “Visions,” an art auction benefiting the Glaucoma Research Foundation. Last year’s event raised $5,000, according to Jewelewicz, a glaucoma specialist, who lives in Boca Raton, Florida, and whose practice, Delray Eye Associates, is in Delray Beach. This year’s event was Nov. 4 at Cacace Studio in Delray Beach.
“Several other local physicians and artists donated paintings and photographs to sell at the event,” Jewelewicz said. “Through e-mail and other correspondence, word has spread, and I received artwork from ophthalmologists and artists from around the nation.”
All the artwork is donated and the event is free. Jewelewicz donates 100 percent of the proceeds to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, based in San Francisco.
Jewelewicz donated several of his own watercolors to the cause. The event showcased more than 70 pieces by 20 artists.
