2000 – Study uncovers method to regenerate the damaged Optic Nerve
Larry Benowitz, PhD, at Children’s Hospital and Harvard University Medical School, Boston, MA, was the principal investigator for a study that uncovered a way to stimulate the damaged optic nerve to regenerate to a much greater extent than ever before. This is an important step forward in understanding the biochemical and cellular mechanisms that might someday be modified to protect and restore the damaged visual pathway in glaucoma patients.
