2000 – Glaucoma Study findings published
Dr. Paul Lee, at the Duke University Eye Center, conducted a study looking into why people are still going blind from glaucoma.
Study participants included glaucoma patients, family members, and doctors who treat the disease. Among the findings, it is important:
- To get treatment from an eye doctor who is highly experienced in glaucoma and who keeps up to date.
- To educate oneself and play an active role in the management of the disease.
- To involve family and friends early. People with glaucoma are likely to be more successful at preserving their vision if they have a strong social network.
