1997 – First Genetic Breakthrough: TIGR gene isolated

GRF-funded researchers from the University of California at San Francisco collaborated with University of Iowa scientists on a study that led to the isolation of the TIGR gene — the gene found to be responsible for some forms of juvenile and adult glaucoma.
