Danielle Fiarito, a 12-year-old in the sixth grade, was diagnosed with Aphakic glaucoma at the age of 4. With her parents Maureen and Dan, Danielle has been raising awareness about glaucoma and raising money to fund glaucoma research.

Andrea, 7, had an infection in her eye when she was just 9 months old. The infection in her eye caused damage to the inner structures that years later resulted in symptoms of glaucoma. She underwent eye surgery performed by a leading children’s glaucoma specialist, and since then her eye health has been very good.

Rebecca Kai Dotlich

Children’s book author Rebecca Dotlich was surprised, confused, and frightened when she was diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of 40. Today, she takes brisk walks at least five times a week, and tries to stay upbeat about having a silent disease. Thinking of the alternative, blindness, has convinced her to keep those eye appointments, and use those eyedrops, even though it isn’t always easy.
