Event Logo We take great pride in welcoming you to the 2009 Benefit Auction. Our committee has made a great effort to bring you wonderful and exciting items for bidding. We hope you agree. If you find our auction as exciting as we do, please help us “spread the word and speed the cure” for glaucoma. Please refer ten (or more) friends to the auction website. And ask them to refer their friends.

We created this auction so that people across the country, who care about the future of all of those affected by glaucoma, can join in our 31st Anniversary celebration. Click here to get started! Winning bids support glaucoma research and education.

And your winning creates bring a double gift of satisfaction! You’ll find that special gift for yourself or someone close to you. And from the proceeds of your winning bids, you’ll be giving real hope to that family member, friend or colleague - maybe even yourself - who is battling glaucoma, the number one preventable cause of blindness in the United States.

Here are just a few of the wonderful items friends of GRF from coast to coast have donated for your enticement and amazement:

JEWELRY: fabulous designer pieces by Patricia Crosby, Ann Cichon, Teresa Chen, Valerie Ostenak, and more!

TRIPS AND ACCOMMODATIONS: an enchanting spa weekend in San Francisco, or a weekend getaway in Half Moon Bay and more!

EXCURSIONS AND ADVENTURES: lunch on the Napa wine train with Wallace and Tom Brunner, a bay sail with GRF Board member Dr. Hetherington, trapeze lessons at The Circus Center in San Francisco, and more.

SPECIAL INDULGENCES: therapy facials from BellăPellé or Marilyn Jaeger, whimsical handbags from designer Mary Frances, and more!

Remember, glaucoma is the leading preventable cause of blindness in the United States. Everyone is vulnerable, from adults to infants. Undetected and untreated, glaucoma can lead to irretrievable vision loss; even blindness. Those at highest risk are African-Americans, where this silent thief of sight strikes at an earlier age and progresses more quickly, Hispanic-Latinos, Asians, everyone over 60, and anyone with a family history of glaucoma.

GRF’s 31st Anniversary Celebration is being held Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at the historic Palace Hotel in San Francisco. President George Herbert Walker Bush is our Honorary National Chairman, William S. Tasman, MD, Director of the Wills Eye Institute is our National Chair, and Mona and Ed Zander are the Event Co-Chairs. We are most grateful to all of them, to everyone who generously donated the items for this auction, and to you for joining our auction.

Please visit http://glaucomaresearchfdn.cmarket.com to view the auction items. Once again, our thanks for joining us in our efforts.
