Become a Speaker
Volunteers with the Glaucoma Research Foundation Speakers Bureau perform an important service in support of our mission to protect eyesight. Speakers share their experiences with glaucoma, provide helpful information to assist those living with the disease, and increase awareness of glaucoma.
We are always looking for additional speakers around the country.
Duties of the Position
We will ask you as a volunteer speaker to perform the following tasks:
- Deliver clear, easy to understand speeches to a variety of audiences who have or who are at risk for glaucoma.
- Respond to audience questions about glaucoma information and available services
- Speak at least 3-5 times in a minimum six-month time commitment
Required Skills
It is helpful if you have some prior public speaking experience, but it is even more important that you be articulate, sensitive, and able to think on your feet.
We look for speakers with a strong identification with the mission of GRF—protecting the sight and independence of people with glaucoma. Personal experience with glaucoma or another health concern is preferred.
Support and Training
One of our experienced speakers or staff members will train you over the phone, and we’ll provide you with speech outlines, slides, and informational videos. Also, we’ll share feedback from audience questionnaires.
And, as new information about glaucoma becomes available, we’ll keep you updated.
