Fiscal Year 2007 Financial Information
2007 wrapped up GRF’s 3-year Capital Campaign with a total of $8.6 million raised to fund vital research and education programs.
Financial results for Glaucoma Research Foundation’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 were excellent. Contributed income exceeded plan, investments performed well, major corporate donations increased, Catalyst Circle giving increased, and GRF’s First Annual Benefit in January, 2007 raised $148,000 in net profit with 230 guests in attendance.
Three years ago, GRF embarked on an ambitious Capital Campaign to raise $7.5 million so that the groundbreaking research work of the Catalyst For a Cure investigators could continue, while continuing to fund essential pilot research grants and educational programs. By the conclusion of the 3-year period on June 30, 2007, thanks to generous contributions at all levels, our Capital Campaign raised a total of $8.6 million, exceeding our goal in a tremendous validation of GRF’s mission.
Due to strong performance for contributed income and investments during the fiscal year, GRF was able to provide additional research funds to the Catalyst For a Cure investigators — funding an important ancillary research project to further our understanding of how glaucoma progresses.
In fiscal year 2007, Charity Navigator awarded the Glaucoma Research Foundation their highest Four Star ranking, indicating that GRF “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.”
In addition, the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance certified that GRF meets their stringent 20 Standards for Charity Accountability — this certification resulting from a comprehensive, in-depth evaluation of GRF’s governance, fund raising practices, solicitations and informational materials, as well as how we spend the money we raise.
Why has GRF earned top marks from the nation’s leading and toughest monitors of non-profit giving? The foundation has a historically demonstrated prudence with funds. GRF consistently operates on a balanced budget from year to year, and 86% of our operating budget goes to programs, with just 14% allocated to administration and fund raising. In other words, 86 cents of every dollar donated to GRF goes directly to funding innovative research and education programs.
Thank you for your personally significant contributions to help speed the cure.
